Event Insurance

What is event insurance?

While Planning for a wedding, anniversary, or baby shower, we know planning events takes energy. Unfortunately, you cannot plan for everything like extreme weather, accidents, or illness that could leave you in a tough position.  So, there is event insurance plan which can help protect your event!

Why should you buy event insurance plan?

  • Many vendors don’t offer refunds no matter the reason for cancellation or postponement.
  • A lot of venues require clients to purchase an event liability policy because they don’t want to take on sole responsibility for damage to their property.
  • Homeowners insurance often doesn’t provide enough protection. Typically, homeowner’s policies will only cover the event if it’s located at the home of the host and will only cover event liability, not cancellation.

How much does event insurance cost?

The cost of wedding liability insurance can range from $75 to $235, depending on coverage limits and coverage options chosen. Liability limits start at $500,000 and liquor liability coverage can be excluded if there is no alcohol being served at the event (lowering the premium).

Event cancellation insurance can start as low as $130. The cost is based on the overall wedding budget, so you can make sure you have the most coverage for all of your deposits and expenses.

Special event coverage may provide protection for:

  • Non-refundable deposits
  • Cancellation fees
  • Injury
  • Liability, and more

What coverages are included?

Event cancellation: helps reimburse you for lost deposits and non-refundable amounts if you have to cancel or postpone your event due to unforeseen circumstances such as vendor bankruptcy, accident or illness, extreme weather and military deployment.

Event cancellation protection also covers additional expenses you may incur to avoid cancelling your event, and pays for other losses or damages, such as:

  • Lost wedding rings
  • Vendor no-shows
  • Lost or damaged wedding gifts
  • Damage to special event attire
  • Lost or damaged photography or videography

Coverage can be purchased anytime up to 14 days before your event, and policies can start as low as $130.

Event liability: helps protect you if someone causes property damage to the venue or someone is injured at your event. Up to $2 million in coverage can be purchased any time up to 1 day before your event. Policies start as low as $75.

What is the right time to purchase event coverage plan?

The right time to purchase a policy is as soon as you begin to put down deposits for your event. Venues, caterers, photographers, and other vendors usually require a significant deposit up front with the remainder due closer to the day of the event.

Will event insurance cover the event if weather forces us to postpone or cancel?

Coverage may be provided if weather conditions are extreme enough to prevent the honoree, the honoree’s immediate family, an active participant in the event or more than half of the guests from attending your event. However, the event cancellation policy must have been purchased at least 15 days in advance of the anticipated or actual extreme weather or act of nature.

Does event cancellation insurance cover pandemics?

Unfortunately, cancellation due to infectious disease, pandemic or epidemic, including the fear or threat, whether actual or perceived is not covered under these policies.

What events are not covered by event insurance?

Ineligible events:

    • Paid attendance (concert, etc.)
    • Events with animals, firearms, explosives, or amusement devices
    • Sporting events
    • Bachelor/Bachelorette parties
